Ken Johnson, President & Chief Executive Officer of HRHS, has been with the healthcare system for over five years. As CEO he provides leadership for the system while creating a positive and productive culture. Johnson joined the organization in 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2013 and then became the CEO in 2015. He has over 32 years of healthcare leadership experience holding positions in both large and small healthcare organizations. This is not Johnson’s first time with Hutchinson hospital as he was an internal auditor for Hutchinson Hospital Corporation in 1983. He worked at HHC until 1989, when he moved to Wichita to pursue a Master's Degree in Healthcare, which he received in 1994. He is a member of First Church of the Nazarene and enjoys participating in charitable activities in Hutchinson. Ken and his wife Carolyn have been married 33 years and have 2 grown sons.
Wes Hoyt, Chief Operating Officer Wes Hoyt became COO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System in 2016. As COO, Hoyt oversees operations of the hospital while implementing strategies, plans, and procedures. He spent most of his working career in the military where he was stationed in the States as well as overseas. He served in executive positions for medical organizations that developed rural healthcare networks as well as led Army medical units in combat. Hoyt grew up in Louisiana and has an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education, English and Social Sciences from Southeastern Louisiana University as well as a Master’s in Health Administration from Baylor University. He is Board Certified in Healthcare Operations and Administration and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Hoyt enjoys reading, gardening with his wife, and spending time with his grandson.
Cassie Dolen, Chief Financial Officer In 2014 Cassie Dolen became the Chief Financial Officer of HRHS. She is accountable for the administrative and financial operations of the company, overseeing health information management, patient accounts and patient access. She received her undergraduate degree in accounting and business management as well as her master’s in business administration from Newman University in Wichita. Prior to joining HRHS, Dolen spent 8 years working in public accounting with BKD, LLP and Grant Thornton, LLP, both Wichita accounting firms, where she specialized in Healthcare and Not-For-Profit industries. She and her husband are both from Sedgwick and now live in Hutchinson. Dolen loves to read mystery, romance, and suspense novels and enjoys adult coloring books.
Chris Kelly, VP/Chief Business Development Officer In his position, Kelly directs the development and design of system business offerings to best serve the needs of the community. Born in Texas, he spent his early years in Virginia before graduating high school in Oklahoma. Prior to joining HRHS in 2016, Kelly was the Director of Business Development at Newton Medical Center. He received his bachelor’s degree at Texas Tech in political science and his master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Hobbies of his include playing the guitar and riding 4-wheelers.
Darla Wilson, VP/Chief Administrative Officer Darla Wilson has been the Chief Administrative Officer of Hospice and Homecare of Reno County since 2004. In that role, she plans, directs, and administers the activities of Hospice and Homecare of Reno County. Prior to becoming Chief Administrative Officer, Wilson was the Clinical Director for Hospice and Homecare. She has an Applied Science Degree in Nursing from Barton County Community College and a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing degree from Fort Hays State, graduating as Magna Cum Laude. She is certified in Hospice and Palliative Care and grew up in Hays, Kansas. She is married with two grown children and two grandchildren. She loves playing with her grandchildren and playing golf.
Michael Garrett, VP/Chief Executive Officer-Horizons In 2008, Mike Garrett became the CEO of Horizons Mental Health Center for HRHS. As CEO of Horizons, Garrett is fully accountable for all financial, operational and clinical activities across all locations. Garrett has been with Horizons since 1981 when he started as a clinician. Garrett received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Fort Hays State University. He has been an active member in the Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas, serving as the organizations president from 2014 – 2016. Garrett and his wife live in Hutchinson and have three grown children. He and his wife enjoy music, traveling, and scuba diving.
Bill Giersch, VP/Chief Administrative Officer- As Chief Administrative Officer of Health–E–Quip and the Chalmers Cancer Center, Giersch provides operational and fiscal oversight for both facilities. Giersch grew up in Brookeville, Kansas and has a bachelor’s degree in Radiological Sciences from Washburn University. Before his current position Giersch was VP of Clinical Services at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and was the Director of Radiation Therapy at St. Johns Hospital in Salina, Kansas. Giersch is married and has one daughter. Hobbies of his include horseback riding, farming, ranching, and golf.
Greg Meredith, VP/ Corporate Compliance Officer In 2014, Greg Meredith became the Vice President and the Corporate Compliance Officer of the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System. In his position he oversees the Corporate Compliance Program for Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System. Meredith grew up in the Wichita area, getting his undergraduate degree in psychology at Pittsburg State University. He later received his juris doctorate from Washburn Law School. He has been a licensed attorney for more than 30 years. Meredith is married and has three children in college. In his free time, Meredith likes reading about history, especially manned space programs.
Tom Smith, MD, VP/Chief Medical Officer Tom Smith was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio. Before becoming the VP/Chief Medical Officer, Smith practiced ENT/head and neck surgery for 33 years in Hutchinson. He received his M.D. from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. In his position he acts as a liaison between administration and physicians. He and his wife have been married for more than 50 years. They have three children along with eight grandchildren. Smith became an avid reader after reading “Shogun” by James Clavell. He also enjoys cooking and golf.
Kevin Chiles, Chief Human Resources Officer Kevin Chiles become the Chief Human Resources Officer for HRHS in 2013. Chiles is responsible for all Human Resources and Employee Health functions. Before joining HRMC, Chiles was a VP and the Director of Human Resources at IMA financial group and prior to that was the VP of Human Resources at Via Christi Health. Having a father that was in the Air Force, Chiles was raised on military bases in the U.S. and abroad. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in industrial psychology from Emporia State University. Chiles is married with three sons and enjoys running and photography.
Peggy Tuxhorn, VP/Chief Quality Officer Peggy Tuxhorn became the Chief Quality Officer for the hospital in 2013. In this position Tuxhorn is the executive managing quality, risk, care management, medical staff services, and patient experiences. Prior to this position she was the Director of Quality and Risk at HRMC for 3 years. She went to nursing school at Wesley Medical Center and later graduated from Friends University with a bachelors in organizational leadership and a masters in management. Peggy is a huge fan of WSU basketball and enjoys quilt making.
Calvin Wright, VP/Chief Information Officer Calvin Wright is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for HRHS. The CIO and CISO is responsible for all HRHS Health Information Technology including Electronic Health Records, computer operations and telecommunications. Prior to joining HRHS in July of 2015 he was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and CISO for Chicago’s Mt. Sinai Health System. He earned his Master’s degree in Information System Security from DePaul University and his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Northeastern Illinois University; both in Chicago. Retired from the US Air Force, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, restoring his 1979 El Camino, flying drones, motor cycling and completing Smart Home Automation.
Amanda Hullet, VP/Chief Nursing Officer In this position Hullet guides and directs inpatient nursing, outpatient services, and the education department at HRMC. Before becoming VP of Patient Care Services, she was the Director of Care Management at HRMC, a position she held for 4 years before her new role. She has been with Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System since 2006 when she started as a Nurse Tech in ICU. Hullet was born and raised in Hutchinson and holds a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Bethel College and a master’s degree in Healthcare Leadership from Friends University. She is a huge sports fan and cheers for Alabama football.
