We’ll Ease Every Breath You Take

The pulmonary care unit at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center (HRMC) focuses on caring for patients with complex respiratory issues. We measure your pulmonary function and provide breathing treatments to help you breathe easier. We specialize in treating individuals afflicted with:

  • Asthma
  • COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
  • Pneumonia

If testing determines that you need additional respiratory assistance after leaving the hospital we’ll guide you in the right direction. We work closely with Health-E-Quip, a local medical equipment company, to set up home oxygen, CPAP and BIPAP equipment. A Health-E-Quip representative will provide one-on-one instruction to help you use the equipment properly.

HRMC also offers Pulmonary Rehab as an outpatient basis. Pulmonary Rehab is designed to help people with chronic pulmonary problems improve their quality of life through exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families. Our AACVPR certified program uses a specialized staff of registered nurses, respiratory therapist, exercise physiologist, dieticians, occupational therapists, and pharmacists to reduce morbidity, mortality and disability from pulmonary disease. We slowly increase patient’s exercise tolerance and strength over the course of the program. Education is given on how and when to use your medications to maximize their effectiveness. Also our staff members will teach patients energy saving and breathing techniques, so they can spend more time doing the things they love to do.
