Help us build a new STEM-focused early childhood center that gives kids a strong start, supports working families, and inspires a lifetime of learning—through play, discovery, and community connection.
For nearly a decade, Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System has recognized the need for an onsite child care facility to support both our team members and the broader community. That need has only grown.
The American Rescue Plan Act Task Force — formed to engage residents in prioritizing community investments — identified child care as a top priority, setting a goal to increase capacity by at least 300 new slots in Reno County. Our new center will create 130 of those slots, helping close the gap and ensuring more children have access to affordable, high-quality care.
This new childcare center will be more than a safe place for children — it will be a launchpad for curiosity, creativity, and growth. Located on the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center campus, it will bring together the expertise of the YMCA, the Cosmosphere, and Horizons Mental Health Center to create a one-of-a-kind early learning environment.
YMCA-operated care for 100 children from working families
30 dedicated slots for at-risk children through Horizons’ Learn & Play Center, offering specialized therapeutic services
STEM learning lab with programs and exhibits from the Cosmosphere
Age-specific classrooms for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, plus sensory and calming rooms for children with special needs
Your support helps launch something bigger than a building.
This project is a bold investment in Reno County’s future. It gives children the strong start they deserve, supports working families, and strengthens our entire community.
Every gift brings us closer to the finish line. Some funding has been secured through the American Rescue Plan Act, but private support is essential to make this vision a reality. Whether you’re making a one-time donation or exploring a larger contribution, your support helps open the doors to a vibrant, STEM-focused early learning center that will serve generations to come.
