Dr. Mohammed Al-Halawani Named Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians

Mohammed Al-Halawani, MDDr. Mohammed Al-Halawani, MD with Hutchinson Pulmonology Associates located within Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, has been named a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP). Fellowships are an honorary designation given to recognize a physician’s service and contribution to their field, community and the practice of medicine.

The Fellowship of the American College of Chest Physicians is an indication of professional distinction. It demonstrates excellence in Chest medicine, dedication to the field, clinical work and research as well as leadership at the forefront of clinical chest medicine.

Dr. Al-Halawani joined Hutchinson Pulmonology Associates in July 2019 and, to date, has treated hundreds of patients dealing with respiratory issues including Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Emphysema, Interstitial lung disease, Lung cancer and Obstructive Sleep Apnea, among other respiratory, critical care and sleep medicine related ailments.

Dr. Al-Halawani completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care training at the State University of New York; and Sleep Medicine training at Yale University.

He is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.

On receiving the title of FCCP, Dr. Al-Halawani stated “This designation will provide an opportunity to visit one on one with contemporaries throughout the nation to research better ways for us all to treat our patients. It will allow me to expand my network, nationally and internationally; continue developing professionally and be a leader in the field of chest medicine, as well as help my practice grow clinically and academically, allowing me to provide the best patient care possible and make full use of new treatments on the drawing boards”.

Ken Johnson, President and CEO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System (HRHS), said the national distinction bestowed on Dr. Al-Halawani comes as no surprise. “Dr. Al-Halawani is an invaluable member of the Hutchinson Regional team and in less than three years is already widely respected among his peers for his expertise and innovative treatments in dealing with a growing number of respiratory issues,” Johnson said. “And of equal importance, his patients offer praise for his compassionate bed side manner in treating patients with ailments that are sometimes life threatening. More and more patients are choosing Hutchinson Pulmonology Associates a destination facility for treating respiratory issues which is due in large part to Dr. Al-Halawani.”
